Where doctors and
the public disagree.

The same question, asked twice. On one side, doctors whose degree and council registration we have checked. On the other, anyone who wants to answer. The gap between the two columns is usually the most interesting number on the page.

How to read this page

The left column is the one to quote. Every vote in it comes from an account whose medical degree certificate and state council or NMC registration certificate we checked before letting them in. One doctor, one vote. Individual ballots are never exposed — the database returns totals only.

The right column is a reaction, not a survey. It is open to anyone, limited to one vote per device. That stops casual double-voting; it does not stop someone determined. Treat it as the mood of whoever happened to read the piece, and nothing more.

Neither column is a representative sample of India. These are the people who found the page and chose to answer. A gap between the columns is worth writing about; a percentage on its own is worth very little.

We only draw a comparison once both columns pass five votes. Below that we say so plainly instead of printing a number that would mislead.
